3.500 km roads were cleaned under Mega Campaign in Delhi: CM Relha Gupta
New -Delhi, May 23 (IANS). Delhi Chief Minister Velha Gupta said on Friday that the MCD, under the ‘Mega Cleaniness campaign’, cleared more than 3.500 km of roads, with the maximum cleaning in the Rohini area. In the progress report issued by the MCD, he said that a campaign against exceeding and direct was launched during the campaign. A total of 11.131 Challans were issued during the campaign, with the maximum 2.994 challengers in the western zone. In addition, 5.932 illegal materials were seized and 186.5 km of roads were freed from exceeding. The 20 -day ‘Mega Netiness Campaign’ was performed in all 12 zones of MCD, including important features such as cleaning, overriding and challan -cutting. The chief minister said that the ‘Swachh Delhi’ initiative of the Delhi government is receiving tremendous support from the citizens of the capital. The latest data released by MCD shows that this comprehensive sanitation campaign produces significant ground level results. He said that clean, healthy and beautiful Delhi is the route of Delhi. The zone -wise report released by the MCD clearly shows that the campaign launched by our government not only moved successfully, but also brought positive changes to the lifestyle of the people. He further stated that under this campaign, extensive cleaning and management activities were carried out in the 12 zones of Delhi (Karol Bagh, City SP, West Zone, South, Civil Lines, Central Zone, Shahdara South, Shahdara North, Najafgarh, Narela, Rohini and Keshav Puram). In addition, under the ‘Mega Neteness Campaign’, MCD drains were largely cleared across Delhi, which will help deal with the problem of weakening during the monsoon season. So far, a total of 19,892.38 tons of silt have been removed, which is a great achievement. The CM also informed that the Department of Irrigation and Flood Control took out 13,72,276 metric tons of 27 drains of Delhi by May 21 and that it completed the removal of the remaining silt on May 31, 2025. He emphasized that the silts should be established in an environmentally friendly way. Not only will this cleaning process restore drainage ability of drains, but it will also help reduce the weakening during the monsoon. To make the city safe, the government identified and corrected 4.139 dark spots. A total of 4.140 street lights were repaired and 285 new street lights were installed, so that there were real lights in areas where there was no arrangement earlier. He said this initiative is an important step to ensure the safety of citizens, especially women and senior citizens.
