'Was really proud of my scene': Gigi Hadid reveals that she had an audition for Rapunzel in Disney's Live-Action Tangled
Gigi Hadid revealed that she had auditioned for the role of Rapunzel in Disney’s now-placed Live-Action bremake of Tangled. In a Vogue cover interview with Kendall Jenner, the supermodel reflected on the surprising experience, saying that she wanted to try something that pushed her out of her comfort zone. “What are we doing more in this work that scares us?” Hadid asked during the interview. Although she did not land the role, Hadid said she felt good about her actions. “I was very proud of my scene.” To prepare for the audition, Hadid took blessings even during the Modem Month, knowing that the vocal skills were likely to play a major role in the cast. “I knew they would go with a real singer,” she admits, although she told Jenner that she would still be happy to show her the band. The Live-Action ‘Tangled’ was in active development, with ‘The Greatest Showman’ director Michael Gracey attached and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson who wrote the screenplay. But the film has since stopped, allegedly after Disney’s live Snow White had a poor box office and a widespread setback. It remains uncertain whether Disney will move forward with the ‘entangled’ project or reconsider it creatively. Meanwhile, another direct remake, ‘Moana’, is still on track for exemption in July 2026. When Corey MyLchreest talked about the audition for ‘Rapunzel’, Hadid wasn’t the only one auditioned. ‘My Oxford Year’ and ‘Queen Charlotte’ star Corey MyLchreest also tried – according to the role of Flynn Rider – although his experience looked less upliftable. In an interview with Seventeen, Illchreest joked: ‘We no longer have the footage. I deleted it and then I burned it and then I burned the phone I filmed. And then I burned the room in which I did. And then I burned myself. No, it wasn’t very good. They then told me that they wanted someone with singing experience. ‘
