Jakarta – The weather in Jakarta has felt warmer in the past few days. The governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, ordered his staff to carry out weather modification operations to reduce the impact of hot temperatures in Jakarta. “In response to this condition, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung instructed related officials to implement mitigation measures to reduce the impact of extreme hot weather on residents,” DKI Governor Deputy Governor Chico Hakim, Special Staff for Public Communication, said in his statement on Thursday (16/10/2025). Chico said that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government wants to make weather changes. He also said that the Provincial Government will provide education so that residents maintain their health amid extreme weather. Chico said that the order for the weather modification operation was transferred by Pramono to the DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD). He said the DKI Provincial Government will try to regulate the distribution of rainfall and reduce the intensity of heat. “(The objective) is to regulate the distribution of rainfall and reduce the intensity of heat, in collaboration with the BMKG (Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency) to monitor extreme weather,” he explained. The DKI Jakarta Health Service (Dinkes) has been asked to increase the readiness of health facilities to handle cases related to extreme heat. Onset of dehydration, heat stroke and acute respiratory infections (ARI). “The Health Department will also launch a public education campaign to reduce outdoor activities during peak heat hours (10.00-14.00), ensure adequate water intake and seek shady places,” said Chico. In the meantime, the Parks and City Forest Service and the Environment Service should speed up the tree planting program. He said planting trees can reduce heat and prevent flooding. “The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government urges residents to stay alert, follow official information from BMKG, and report emergency conditions via the 112 service. Earlier, BMKG said hot weather with maximum temperatures reaching 37°C has hit several regions in Indonesia in the last few days. According to the BMKG report, this extremely hot weather condition will continue until the end of October or early November 2025. BMKG stated that this condition will gradually subside as the rainy season arrives. “Extreme hot weather is likely to begin to subside in late October to early November, as the rainy season arrives and cloud cover increases,” Dwikorita Karnawati, head of BMKG, told reporters on Tuesday (14/10).
