Five dead, including three children after falling into a vehicle channel in Korba
A tragic accident occurred on Sunday in the Korba district of Chhattisgarh, when a small truck carrying 25 passengers overturned and fell into the channel. After a two -day rescue operation, police confirmed on Tuesday that all five missing persons were found dead. The incident occurred between Mukundpur and Madvarani villages of the Uraga police station. The victims were residents of all nearby towns, they were going to attend a family ceremony in the Kharhari town when the vehicle lost control and fell into the canal. According to police officers, many passengers managed to swim and climb safely after the vehicle fell into the canal. However, five people were missing, after which a comprehensive rescue operation was conducted by the local authorities. “The rescue operation lasted 48 hours. A woman’s body was recovered on Sunday night. Three more bodies were found Monday night, and the last body was found Tuesday afternoon,” officials said. The deceased was identified as Itwari Bai Kanwar (60), Manmati Kanwar (70), Janbai Kanwar (70), Tanya Sahu (7) and Naman Kanwar (2). During the search, his bodies from different parts of the channel were restored. Investigation revealed that the cargo vehicle involved in the accident belonged to Sridhar Chauhan, Sarpanch of the neighboring Shakti district in the neighboring Shakti district. Officials also said that the vehicle is not for transport and that it is used for illegal traffic. Shortly after the accident, the driver of the vehicle fled from the place and is currently busy.
