Demand to turn the name of Islamabad environment of MeerUT, debate in political corridors

A major issue came to light on Thursday during the discussion on ‘Vision Document 2047’ in Uttar Pradesh Law Council. BJP’s MLC Dharmendra Bhardwaj raised the claim to change the name of Islamabad Mohalla in Meerut City. He suggested that this area be named after freedom fighter Matadin Valmiki. After his statement, a new debate broke out from the house to the political corridors. Dharmendra Bhardwaj said in the house that Islamabad Mohalla of lake is deeply associated with the country’s freedom struggle. During the revolution of 1857, Freedom Fighter Matadin Valmiki blew the fault against the British. He contributed significantly to the spread of the spark of revolution. Therefore, this Mohalla Matadin must be named after Valmiki so that the new generation can get information about their sacrifice and contribution. Bhardwaj also said that designation and institutions in the name of freedom fighters are the true tribute. He called on the home that the government should seriously consider this proposal and the name of Islamabad of MeerUT should be changed to ‘Matadin Nagar’ or ‘Matadin Valmiki Nagar’. Once this proposal came, opposition parties targeted the BJP. Members of the Samajwadi party and the congress said that the BJP is only doing politics to change the name, while the actual issues – such as unemployment, inflation and education – pay attention. The opposition raised the question of whether the name of the name would only respect Freedom Fighters, or to bring their ideas into practice, their legacy in the true sense would be corrected? At the same time, BJP members again have retaliation and said that freedom fighters have been ignoring for a long time. Now the time has come to take concrete steps to bring their contribution to the people. He argued that the name of Islamabad reflects foreign influence, while the name of a brave fighter like Matadin Valmiki would inspire the new generation to patriotism and sacrifice. Political analysts believe that this issue could cause political stir in the entire Western -Auttar Pradesh, including MeerUT, in the coming time. Valmiki Samaj is an important social power in the state and the designation of the environment after its name can be politically beneficial to the BJP. At present, no official statement was given by the government, but this claim arose in the Legislative Council, gave a new direction to the politics of the state.
