Government will claim more allocation of the Finance Commission
The Himachal government will demand the granting of additional funds from the Finance Commission for the protection of its forest wealth, which is provided with invaluable value of Rs 90,000 to the country. The additional memorandum to be submitted to the Finance Commission will be based on the report of the Indian Institute of Forest Management, Hyderabad, which is likely to be received next week. The state government filed a memorandum with the 16th Finance Commission on June 25, 2024 during a visit to Himachal, but chief minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu was prepared to meet the chairman of Niti Aayog to get additional central help. The report of the Indian Institute of Forest Management, Hyderabad, assessed the value of ecological services of Himachal forests. There is a complete ban on cutting trees in Himachal and the emphasis is on raising the forest area, which can occur flooding and soil erosion and can gain many other benefits. In light of the limited opportunities for revenue -generation in Himachal Pradesh, the state government has already encouraged the central government to withdraw the limit of loans and the limit to raise funds among external supported projects. The state government says that development in the state is influenced by imposing boundaries on the border of loans. The state’s annual budget is about Rs 58,000 crore and from it about Rs 30,000 crore is spent on the ministry and pay of salaries and pension of retired government officials and the payment of old loans and interest payments. This saves the government very little money for developmental works. Share this story -tags
