AK Sharma's strong rebuke to energy officials said: 'We operate public service, not a Baniya store'
Ak Sharma, Minister of Energy in Uttar Pradesh, remains in the news these days. On Wednesday, he convened a meeting of an important officials in the capital Lucknow, in which he expressed strong dissatisfaction with departmental functioning, and the officials reprimanded. During the meeting, the Minister of Energy told the officials and said, “Why are our hair deceived? Why are our transformers burning? Our MAs and public representatives are abusing us, abusing the government and saying that everything is good. You are not absolutely attached to the public.” Strict dissatisfaction with the officials was the clear message of Minister AK Sharma that the officials only do paperwork without making contact with the public’s problems and does not seriously show the problems. He said that the public was very upset because of the poor situation of transformer fire and service in the power sector and that the authorities would be held responsible for this. The minister warned officials that strict steps would be taken if the public’s complaints were not resolved soon. He asked the officials to go among the public to set up the real situation and be ready to solve the problem. The incidents of transformer fire and obstacles in power supply should pay attention to public dissatisfaction. As a result, the tension between public representatives and departmental officials is increasing. The minister also acknowledged that the public’s dissatisfaction was influencing the image of the government because of the apathy of the officials. The Minister of Energy also said during the meeting that departmental officials would have to come from the four walls of the office and work on the ground. Public problems must be understood and action must be taken quickly.
