Social dialogue with parents candidates for people's school students in Wonosobo

Jakarta – Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) checked the readiness of People’s School on Sunday (1/6) during the visit to Wonosobo Work Training Center (BLK), Central -Java. Despite holidays, he took the time to dialog with the parents of prospective people’s school students. “Today is a holiday, but we still want to make sure the organization of people’s schools can go as well as possible,” Gus Ipul said in his statement on Sunday (1/6/2025). It is known, Wonosobo has become one of the implementation areas of the first phase of the People’s School year 2025/2026, with about 100 high school students in four study groups as the first generation. These people’s school is a tangible form of state attention for poor families struggling to access education. One of them comes from Sri Hartati, Ms. Nadya Aurora Salsabila, 16, whose eyes were glazed when she conveyed her hope. “Hopefully my child can learn as in public schools and can make parents proud,” Sri said. Gus Ipul emphasized that people’s schools are not just a single program, but the results of joint work across ministries. The Ministry of Social Affairs has operational control, but its implementation involves many parties as proof of the seriousness of the state to reach extreme poor people. “On either side of me, many ministries support. These are all forms of seriousness that we translate the president’s ideas,” he explained. Meanwhile, Wonosobo Regent Afif Nurhidayat welcomed the People’s School as a new bright place for its citizens and a concrete step to break the poverty chain that the younger generation of families had. “From 2025 there should be no more children from poor families who are not at school for economic reasons,” Afif said. As a long -term commitment, the Wonosobo Regency government will assign 8 hectares of land to build a permanent People’s School complex of primary school levels, replacing the temporary location in the BLK building. The government is nationally aimed at 100 people’s schools that were founded this year, 65 of which started working in July 2025, the rest followed. With a curriculum balancing academic, character and profession, this school is intended to print a tough generation: intelligent, empowered and independently economically.
