  • She’s hoping the challenge gets her to “a healthier version” of herself

Rebel Wilson is locking in for another health challenge.

On April 21, the actress and comedian — who has previously opened up to PEOPLE about losing 80 lbs. following a “year of health” in 2020 — posted a video on Instagram sharing that she’s starting a six-week challenge and encouraging her followers to do the same.

“Who’s up for a 6-week health challenge? I know I am because I’ve just been really indulging over Easter and also quite frankly for the last couple of months. And I really want to be a healthier version of me,” she said.

Wilson, 45, explained that the challenge involves giving up 1 to 3 indulgences and replacing them with habits that benefit your physical or mental health.

“So I’m gonna give up chocolate and ice cream for the next six weeks,” she shared. “And instead, each week I’m gonna do something positive for my health. So this week, I’m gonna be grateful for five things and I’m gonna write it down.”

In the comments section, Wilson replied to her followers praising those who vowed to join her challenge.

Wilson is often talking publicly about her health journey as a self-proclaimed “emotional eater.”

In March 2024, the Pitch Perfect alum discussed her health journey in an issue of PEOPLE, detailing the “emotional war” she experienced over her weight.

“I think to many people I’m a beacon of body positivity because I see people who are considered medically obese if you look at their weight, but I think they are absolutely beautiful,” she said. “I really think beauty is at any shape and size so I do really promote that.”

“So people are like, ‘Well, how can you be so body-positive and then be hating yourself?’ But I wasn’t hating myself, I was only hating those shameful behaviors,” she added. “For example, eating a whole tub of ice cream every night and then feeling bad about myself, making myself get up early in the morning and go to the gym for an hour and a half and running on that treadmill until sometimes my back would hurt.”

Wilson also described herself as an “emotional eater,” adding that she would “be hard on myself,” which took time to work on.

“I’m like, ‘How can I be a person who excels in so many things, and gets two university degrees, and can make millions of dollars, and can start from nothing and then create this huge career, but I couldn’t lose weight,’” she said at the time. “I would always beat myself up about that and go, ‘What’s wrong with me?’”

In her book Rebel Rising: A MemoirWilson discussed her weight loss and how it isn’t about “some magic pill, or some sick special diet, or exercise regime or whatever.”

“It’s literally about working at a healthier way to deal with your emotions, and there is no magic solution,” she said. “Maybe me telling my story might encourage them to do the same and make healthy change in their lives.”
