Husband insults, that’s why abandoned life!

There is a special reason behind the existence of these Shaktipeeths. According to the legend, Lord Shiva’s first wife Sati married Bholenath without the will of her father King Daksha. Once organized a Virat Yagya in King Daksha, but he did not invite his daughter and son -in -law to the yagna.

Mother Sati reached the yagna without his father’s invitation, while Bholenath refused to go there. King Daksha abused her husband Lord Shiva in front of Mother Sati and insulted her. The father’s mouth did not tolerate insult to the husband Sati and he jumped into the sacred fire pool of the yajna and gave up his life.

Bholenath could not bear the disconnection of his wife. He started taking the body of Mother Sati. The catastrophe started coming on the universe, on which Lord Vishnu cut the body of Mother Sati from the Sudarshan Chakra. Mother’s body parts and jewelery fell in 52 pieces in different places on the earth, which became Shaktipeeth. Out of this, Sati’s right ankle fell at this Bhadrakali Shaktipeeth place of Kurukshetra. The right ankle of Sati fell in a well built in this temple, hence the temple is also called Sri Devikup Temple.
