Trending is the world’s first man-made dam Sadd al-Cafara is the world’s oldest Waldam, built by ancient Egyptians about 3700 years ago. The dam is located in Wadi Garvi near Helwan Town, 40 km south-east of Cairo, the Egyptian capital. Sadd al-Cafara was built to prevent sudden floods and to supply water to laborers and animals. It was built at 113 meters long, 14 meters wide and 98 meters wide, and its construction used soil and stones. This dam was not used for irrigation, there is no evidence of arable land around it. In 1885, George Schinafarth discovered the ruins of this dam, it is today known as the oldest big dam in the world. The remains of Sadd al-Cafara can still be seen in Wadi Garvi, which is proof of unparalleled architecture and engineering of ancient Egypt, with the construction of Sadd al-Cafara Dam, people moved to another step to control the powers of nature.
