In a relief from an interfaith-in-couple, the Allahabad High Court on Thursday granted them police protection while hearing a plea by their minor daughter, claiming that the former in-laws of the child’s mother threatened the couple, Live Law said. The plea, the Allahabad High Court Division Bench of Justice Shekhar B Saraf and Justice Vipin Chandra Dixit, noted that the biological father and mother of the child of different religions and have been living together since 2018. The court also noted that the child is currently one year and four months old. In his observation, the bank noted that the parents of the child were said to be “afraid of certain threats of the private respondents who are the former in -laws of the biological mother”, the legal portal reports. It added that the biological mother of the child began to live with the biological father after the downfall of her former husband. “In our opinion, the parents, who are Major, are entitled to live together according to the constitutional scheme, even if they did not undergo marriage,” the direct law cited the judges. The parents of the child earlier argued that the police authorities were not prepared to register the first information report against the in-laws and that they humiliated them as they approached the police station to submit the fir. When he heard this, the bank ordered the superintendent of the police concerned to ensure that the fir was registered when the parents approached the police station in question, the report added. The bank also ordered the SP to provide security to the parents of the child “in accordance with the law”.
