More than 8,000 vehicles have entered the region over the past three days, as tourists in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Jammu take shelter to sharpen the heat in the plains. Vinay Sharma, president of Palampur Hotelier Association, expressed the hope that this is the first time in the years when most hotels in the area are full.
