Amritsar, March 29 (IANS). Punjab’s electricity minister Harbhajan Singh Eto addressed a press conference in Amritsar on Saturday, saying that the state government gave consumers great relief by lowering electricity tariffs. Harbhajan Singh Eto said the new tariff rates will apply from 1 April 2025, in which electricity figures have been reduced. In addition, no extra fee is increased by more than one crore consumer. The minister said: “The Punjab government has long been making decisions in the interests of the people, so that electricity consumers have no problem. Over the past three years, 600 units of free electricity have been given to the people of the state, promised by the AAAM AADMI party’s government to the public, and it is being fulfilled.” He said the government also bought a major thermal power station in Goindwal to overcome the lack of electricity. Harbhajan Singh Eto said that the rates of commercial connections in new tariff rates for 2025-26 were reduced and that industrialists received the benefit of deducting Rs 10 per kW. He said: “The electricity division earned a profit of Rs 311.5 crore, reducing the tariff rates.” He described the recent budget of the Punjab government as a public interest and commendable step, and he said that the government has done a good job over the past three years and that it will be faster in the next two years. The minister insisted that the Punjab government be committed to the benefit of the people and that a decrease in electricity figures is an important example of this. The Punjab government has announced a reduction in electricity rates for the financial year 2025-26, which is launched by the AAM AAAM Party government led by Bhagwant Mann as a gift for the people of the state. This announcement is expected to provide relief to household, commercial and industrial consumers of Punjab. -Ians Aks/Aques Share This Story -Tags
