The Pakistani army has a cruel history in Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest and least populated province. Human rights activists have accused the Pakistani army of disappearing thousands of Baloch youth. Islamabad tried to normalize ties with Balochistan through the Belt and Road initiative of China, but the Baloch says their resources are used to enrich other areas of Pakistan. The Baloch demands independence from Pakistan and sees the Pakistani army as their enemy. Pakistani military personnel often use the Jafar Express train to travel to and from the Provinces Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This is why this train is often targeted by rebels or terrorist groups such as Baloch Liberation Army and Tehreek-E-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
