Jakarta – The government of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka will be one year old tomorrow. Minister of the Environment (LH) Hanif Faishol appreciated the Presidential Regulation (Perpres) on the handling of waste in electricity signed by Prabowo. “Yes, for Pak Prabowo, of course we appreciate the efforts he made. So we asked us to take various steps in an integrated manner, including waste management,” Hanif told journalists in Tapos, Depok, Sunday (19/10/2025). “So just yesterday he signed Presidential Regulation number 109 on the production of waste in electrical energy. So this long bureaucratic knot has been cut completely,” he added. Hani said the presidential decision is a symbol of the Prabowo government’s commitment to overcoming environmental problems. “There are no more talks with the DPRD, no more talks with the DPR RI, because they are immediately treated by direct subsidies for electricity purchases. So this is one of the big steps in the president’s era,” he said. Hanif said Prabowo always encouraged the ranks of the Ministry of Environment to solve the waste problem in Indonesia. A number of policies were also prepared and implemented to comply with Prabowo’s directives. “In this year, in terms of policy, in terms of other policies, the President has of course encouraged us all to solve waste expenditure through various types of policies. Some are called properly, some are called adipura, some are called nirvasinatantra. Then waste expenditure is based on administrative sanctions from the government,” he explained. He added that the waste problem in Indonesia cannot be solved quickly. However, he believes that with consistent policy over the next five years this problem will be solved. “The President has done all this through us, of course these efforts cannot be immediate. So it is like building a big building, so of course we will continue the foundation until later, so the most important thing is that we should not give up, we should not just talk, except that we provide concepts, provide policies, monitor policies, and also provide examples,” he explained.
