Stanley Tucci Embarks on a Mouthwatering Journey in New Series ‘Tucci in Italy’ (Exclusive) – ryan

Stanley Tucci is eating his way through Italy!

In a PEOPLE exclusive first look at the trailer for National Geographic’s Tucci in Italy (premiering May 18), the award-winning actor, 64, takes viewers on a mouthwatering journey through five stunning regions across the country.

In the upcoming series, the Conclave star explores the cuisine each area is known for and dives deep into the rich culture and history of the regions while soaking in the breathtaking views along the way.

“I’m Stanley Tucci, and I believe that the best way to understand what makes a country and its people unique is through their food,” he says in the above trailer as scenes of him tasting various foods, walking past landmarks, and visiting restaurants in each region appear.

He continues, “And this is true nowhere more than Italy, where even the shape of your pasta and the sauce you serve it with differentiates the character and history of each region sharply from the next.”

The trailer then shows scenes of beautiful turquoise waters and rolling hills, demonstrating the diverse landscapes that both Tucci and viewers will experience throughout the five-part series.

“I’m exploring the complex connections between the land, the people, and the food they eat in order to discover the essence of each region in a country I love: Italy,” says Tucci, who serves as both producer and host on the show.

Tucci will start his journey in Tuscany, where he’ll taste a famous breakfast dish in Florence before experiencing ranch life with some Tuscan cowboys in Siena. He’ll then travel through the second region, Lombardy, where he’ll be exposed to some out-of-the-box dishes and menus.

In the next episode, he soaks in the sweeping views of serene Trentino-Alto Adige and learns about the complex culture and history there. From hitting the slopes to uncovering how the region’s border conflict has impacted its food, Tucci is sure to take viewers on a whirlwind ride.

When he arrives in Abruzzo, Tucci is eager to learn more about the region he had never been to before this trip. He finds himself surprised by the French influence and wowed by the sweeping views high up in the mountains.

Last but not least, according to the series’ press release, Tucci embarks on a journey to the countryside of Lazio “to understand the relationship between the ancient metropolis and rural heartland.” He samples everything from Roman pizza to springtime lamb and savors each mouthwatering ingredient.

“Italy is a feast for the senses, and Tucci in Italy is an invitation to the table,” the actor says in a statement shared in the release.

“It’s about more than just the food; it’s about the people, the history, and the passion that makes Italy so special. I hope you’ll join me on this new adventure. I believe that eating well is inspiring, and I hope to inspire viewers to embrace the beauty and richness of Italian culture,” he concludes.

Tucci in Italy premieres May 18 at 8/7c on National Geographic and streams on Disney+ and Hulu the next day.
