Recent data issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics revealed that the average number of births for each woman is a “total reproductive rate” of 2.41 children for each woman in 2024, registering a decrease of 5.1% compared to 2023, pointing out that this decline comes as a continuation of the continuous descending trend in reproductive rates since 2014, which reflects the effectiveness of population and awareness policies within the national population strategy Development 2023-2030.

The results also showed a significant variation between the governorates, as Port Said Governorate recorded the lowest incoming rate of 1.54 children per woman, while Matrouh Governorate recorded the highest birth rate of 4.75 children per woman.

The report also indicated that all governorates witnessed a different decrease in reproductive rates when comparing the data of 2024 at the rates of 2023 and 2021 “according to the Egyptian Family Health Survey data 2021”, and this shows the positive impact of intensifying awareness programs for reproductive health, empowering women, and the efforts of family planning that have been implemented in recent years.
