According to police, at least 22 Naxalites in a major development before the security forces in the Bijapur district surrendered Chhattisgarh, four of which had a reward of Rs 26 Lakh. Earlier, 26 Naxalites surrendered in the neighboring Dantewada district. These cadres, including six women, surrendered to senior police officers and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). He quoted his disillusionment with ‘hollow’ and ‘inhuman’ Maoist ideology and increased internal differences in the organization as the main reasons for his decision to stop violence. Jitendra Kumar Yadav, Superintendent of the Police (SP), said the Naxalite was also inspired by the state government’s ‘Niad Nellanar’ (your good town) scheme, which aims to bring development into remote towns around security camps. Reaching and continuous development works in these internal areas were also the most important factors that encourage their surrender. The Naxalites surrendered include the Basalion No. 1 member of the Maoist population Guerrilla Army (PLGA), Kamali Hemla (32) and party member Muya Madavi (19) in a company under the Telangana State Committee, which had a reward of Rs 8-8 Lakh. In addition, there was a reward of Rs 5-5 Lakh on press team commander Sonu Tati, 28, in the West Bastar division and Mahesh Punetum, PLGA member in the Bhairamgarh area committee. Until this year, 179 Naxalites surrendered in the Bijapur district. In contrast, 83 Naxalites were killed and 172 arrested in various incidents in the district. The surrendered Naxalites have provided 50-50 thousand rupees and they will be rehabilitated according to the government’s policy.
