Jakarta – Artificial Intelligence (AI) for teachers initiated by the Governor of South Sumatra, Herman deru broke the world record. With 25,000 teachers present, this activity is recorded in Guinness World Records as the largest AI training in the world. The event held at Griya Agung Palembang on Saturday (9/20) took place with thousands of teachers attended and some others followed online. The enthusiasm was so high that the registration quota was fulfilled long before it began. In his remarks, Herman Deru emphasizes the importance of educational transformation in the digital era. The teacher must master it to guide students who have been very familiar with technology since childhood,” he said in a written statement on Sunday (9/21/2025). Herman Deru emphasized that the purpose of this training was not only the record, but equipped teachers with concrete abilities. Teachers are expected to compile AI -based teaching devices, use applications for assessment to understand the principles of digital ethics. “If we do not understand technology, we can be victims of manipulation. Ai can be used for positive things, but also possibly abused. That’s why the teacher must understand very well,” he said. This training consists of three main sessions that include the basic introduction of AI, practical application in schools and integration in the curriculum. The material is delivered by educational practitioners, motivators and well -known academics. One of them called Johannes Agus Taruna this activity an important legacy for Indonesian education. According to him, Herman Deru’s initiative made South Sumatra a pioneer in technology -based education. “Initially, this activity wanted to be kept in another city. But Governor Deru requested that it be held in South Sumatra. He immediately supported fully,” he explained. Guinness World Records via Mr. Austin Clark Herzog Johnson gave a record certificate to the South Sumatra Provincial Government Representative. This award is a symbol of international recognition of the role of South Sumatra in the promotion of education. This event received support from Vurkopimda and educational figures. The famous motivator Indonesia James Gwee, as well as academics at the University of Ciputra, also provided material about learning innovations with AI. As many as 25,000 teachers have participated and its impact will reach millions of students.
