A bump at Vijay's rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, 23 dead, very injured

Chennai, September 27 (IANS). An election meeting suddenly caused chaos in Karur, Tamil Nadu, and killed at least 23 people and injured several people. This includes children and the elderly. It was told that the condition of many people remained critical, while emergency teams and senior civil servants reached the place. Under the guidance of the Karur police superintendent, police reached the place and stabilized the situation and opened the way for emergency services. The death of at least 23 people was confirmed, while more than 30 people, including six children, were taken to Karur Government Medical College Hospital. Doctors said that three children are still in the intensive medical unit (ICU) and that many others have been seriously injured. The chief minister of Tamil Nadu, MK Stalin, ordered an immediate emergency response while monitoring the situation. On his instructions, Minister Ambil Mahesh Poyyamozhi and mother Subramaniam Karur reached to monitor the measures for rescue, medical care and multitude of controls. Additional Director General of Police (Legislation and Order) Davidson Devasiravatham also visited the Karur district to ensure the help and safety of the police. Later, the power supply was restored and the crowd spread, but questions are questioned about the adequacy of security and the management of crowds in such high-profile political events.
