Yogi government that promotes Buddhist pilgrimage centers from Uttar Pradesh worldwide has done 50 special guests from five countries 'Bodhi Yatra'

Lucknow, June 8 (IANS). The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh is constantly trying to promote the development and tourism of Buddhist circuits. In this relief, a ‘family journey’ called ‘Bodhi Yatra’ was organized under the Mekong-ganga cooperation (MGC) in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh tourism division and the Foreign Ministry of the Government of India. The journey lasted from June 2 to June 7, in which a delegation of 50 countries from five countries of Asean Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam participated. The team consisted of Buddhist monks, travel agents and social media influences. Jayveer Singh, Minister of Tourism and Culture, said that Uttar Pradesh is committed to establishing the Buddhist heritage on a world scene led by the Yogi government. The purpose of ‘Bodhi Yatra’ was to display major Buddhist sites such as Shravasti, Kapilavastu, Kushinagar, Sarnath, Varanasi, Lucknow and Agra on the world tourism map. During this time, the delegation visited Anand Bodhi Tree, Jetavan Vihar, Piparwahi Stupa, Mahaparinirvana Stupa, Dhammak Stupa, Ashoka pillar and various Buddhist museums. He said that the Yogi government paid particular attention to strengthening the infrastructure for the development of Buddhist circuits, increasing tourist facilities and cultural protection. Earlier in Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also met the delegation and informed about the rich Buddhist heritage of the state. The tourism section made guests aware of the historical and cultural importance of Buddhist sites through traditional reception and special presentation. B2B meetings were also arranged during the ‘Bodhi Yatra’, which played an important role in promoting tourism and cultural cooperation between India and Southeast Asian countries.
