The General Authority for Comprehensive Health Insurance announced that the network of health service providers with the system with the system amounted to 495 approved entities until August 2025, after obtaining the accreditation of the General Authority for Accreditation and Health Supervision, ensuring that citizens are the freedom to choose the appropriate authority to receive the service, and achieve integrated health coverage for all groups in the application governorates.
Mai Farid, Executive Director of the General Health Insurance Authority, said that the system includes various contracts between government agencies and the private sector, as the private sector acquired 29% of the total contracts, which reflects the continuous expansion of the network and enhancing the participation of various sectors.
She added that the Public Authority for Health Care came in the lead with 286 entities, followed by the private sector with 144 entities, then the Specialized Medical Centers Sector with 19 entities, and university hospitals with 11 parties, while the rest of the contracts were distributed among the civil societies (10), the armed forces (7), the medical services sector in the Ministry of Interior (6), the Ministry of Health (4), the Suez Canal Authority (4), in addition to one party for each of the business sector and the National Authority For Egypt’s railway.
For her part, Dr. Heba Atef, head of the Central Administration of Health Services Providers at the Authority, explained that the contracts included:
199 initial care units
66 primary care centers
80 general and integrated hospitals
49 specialized hospitals
11 specialized medical centers
6 specialized medical clinics
31 analyzes laboratory
13 x -ray centers
28 optical centers
12 pharmacy
She emphasized that these expansions reflect the state’s keenness to enhance health justice and protect citizens from financial burdens for treatment, by establishing a sustainable financing system and encouraging investment in the health sector through partnerships with the public and private sectors and civil society.
The authority stressed that its future plans aim to expand the contract base with more service providers, attract new investments, and introduce a full digital transformation in the system, in addition to intensifying community awareness campaigns to ensure that all citizens benefit from comprehensive health insurance services, in line with the sustainable development goals and Egypt 2030 vision in the health sector.
