5 bodies of Freeport workers on landslide were found, a total of 7 people were killed

Jakarta – The Emergency Response team of PT Freeport Indonesia has found and evacuated all the bodies of workers captured from the location of the Law Material Launch at Tembagapura Grasberg Block Cave (GBC), Mimika. In total, there were seven workers killed. There was five new -found bodies on Monday (6/10/2025) by Antara. Tembagapura police chief Iptu Firman said the five newfound workers were brought to Timika. “Everything was brought to Timika this morning. One person was buried in Kuala Kencana, while four people were flown to Jakarta today,” Firman said. A total of five workers are employees of PT Freeport’s contractor enterprises in the underground mining area, PT RedPath Indonesia. Firman said the last body discovered by the PTFI emergency reaction team was Holong Gembira Silaban and Zaverius Magai. “The last two found just arrived at Tembagapura Hospital at about 3am,” he said. Upon their arrival at Tembagapura Hospital, the five bodies of FreePort Mining Workers were immediately handled by a team of doctors from the Papua Regional Police Dokkkes for the identification process. The condition of the bodies of five workers was reportedly still intact. “All intact, from the report we received, they just got stuck between mud mud mud entering the underground mining area,” he said. Attempts to look for victims have been carried out since the landslide took place on September 8, 2025 at night. Previously, there were two PT Cita contract workers found earlier Saturday (9/20).
