Seth Rudetsky6 crazy stories of Playbill Travel’s Broadway on the High Seas in Iceland with Sierra Bogsges, Rob McClure, and moreThis week in the life of Seth Rudetsky, Seth shares the best stories from Icelandic excursions, on performances on board and signature of Chatterboxes of Playbill’s most recent trip abroad.

Hello of Icelandic sky! We look down on tons of Snowy Mountains because we fly over Greenland. So cool!

We are finally on our way home to our Playbill Cruise all over Iceland, and here are the highlights of a Broadway week:

The first show appears (the four-time Tony nominee) Judy Kuhnwho sang songs from almost all of her Broadway shows, including “I know him so well” of Chess (Connected by Sierra Boggess).

She just walked on the plane at my seat and I told her that I wanted to tell a fun story about her to the column, but I felt like I had written all her show stories. She agrees. However, I added, I didn’t tell our latest adventure.

Last week, James and I joined Judy Plus an older couple from the speed on what was billed as a three-hour hike, difficulty. The use of “three” in both descriptions was wrong. We first met our tour guide that assessed our physical ability for the hike by asking if we could walk. He set the beam high! Judy was so happy that she bought waterproof boots recently, but I suddenly realized – although my sneakers would be good for a hike in a moderate climate – it was not ideal for one of snow and ice. I naive – and I mean naive—I was hoping that my socks would not get wet. Within three feet after I started the hike, I stepped into an area that looked like country, but somehow a sponge. It was ‘nice’ with wet socks for a hike in cold weather. After about an hour we approached what could possibly be described as Mount Everest. I soon realized that we are expected to climb it. What happened to “Can you walk?”

I don’t say it was as scary as The mountain I ascended with Vanessa Williams in Arizona, Where I lay completely flat on the ground, hoping not to dive to my death, but I certainly crawled a lot of the fourth.

Eventually, finally We have reached the top. I was excited to celebrate our ascension by walking lazy across the mountain, which would undoubtedly be much easier. Well, I didn’t realize that the other side of the mountain, what looked like, a wall. It wasn’t straight down … but it was actually! We were told to grab a rope (!) And use it to hold ourselves as we go down. At this point, I was wondering if a med-Evac helicopter could find me. And more importantly, James! He just underwent shoulder surgery three weeks ago and couldn’t use his left arm! Who the hell knew we had to keep a rope to lower ourselves down a mountain?!?! Difficulty Three! ‘Can you Go? “

We finally got to the ground and I was very happy! We then started walking through a snow -covered field. Where was Judy in all this? It seems that she is a natural girl.

All I heard was a sprout of uninterrupted “Isn’t that pretty?” And “Wow! Look at the view!” I get it. You have played Pocahantas and want me to take all the ‘colors of the wind’ around me. Well, I had it. It was three hours and … wait. I realized this at 11:30. We started at 8:15 and the literature on the boat said that we would be back at 11:45 p.m. How would we finish and Be back on the boat within 15 minutes when nothing like civilization looks close to us? When we inquired, our guide told us that he was under the impression that was supposed to get us back on the boat 2 pm! What happens!?

I’ll tell you what happens: We started crossing streams that came up everywhere because snow melted. Soon we had to climb into the actual river himself. Serious! It was ‘climb every mountain of Ford every stream’. Literally walk in a river (which, if you do not know, is made of water).

The end of the story is: We came back to the boat around 2:30 and just as Judy “Pollyanna” Kuhn just confirmed to me in the aircraft, it was her favorite outing of the week. If you want to get a feeling from the Icelandic territory, my craziness and Judy’s uninterrupted joy, then look at the Facebook Live video we did:

PS too! If you want to see Judy singing a storm, come see us In Provincetown this weekend!

Anyhoo, Paulo The next night performed and tons of Broadway songs sang beautifully, including Rodgers and Hammerstein Classics with a Samba Sassafrass in honor of his Brazilian heritage. He is about to act in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia, as Perón in a new production of Evita Directed by Hal Prince! And Evita is played by Tina Arena. I know who she is because she sang “enough is enough” with Donna Summer on the live album that came out about 15 years ago. She is wonderful! Look at this incredible footage.

Christine Ebersole Was our next singer and I was obsessed with how she used her voice like a musical instrument. Here is my deconstruction of her brilliance.

She always cracks jokes about parent and glad that Broadway welcomes her and how horrible Hollywood is about aging. She claims she had earlier “Broadway: 40, Hollywood: 60.” wash. But now his ‘Broadway: 60, Hollywood: In Memorium.’

Christine will soon perform with me in Provincetown, Cotuit and Nantucket, and at Steppenwolf in Chicago! Details here.

Comedian Lewis black Was an incredible appearance in the middle of the week. We loved how he deconstructed our tour guide from one of the eight -hour days we went to view. Like when Lewis also gave details about the lullaby, our tour guide told us. If you don’t know, Icelandic people come from generations of hard weather and hard. They have a very no fringe view of life. The Lullaby was a song that all parents sing to their children. The lyrics are about a mother who did not have the means to keep her child alive, so (of course) she threw the baby into a waterfall to drown. Lovely dreams! Lewis also performed his typical hilarious political humor and told us that interviewers asked him if the current administration is good for comedy. He replies that this government is good for comedy, the way a stroke is good for a nap. Brava!

Then the lovely Sierra Bogsges did her show filled with songs from shows like The Sound of music, The Phantom of the Opera, the Little Mermaid and a child film that she loved, Tom Sawyer. Does anyone remember that film? With Johnny Whitaker and Jodie Foster? It appears that the songs by the Sherman brothers of Mary Poppins fame! Michael Jackson Even one of them recorded.

Sierra told us all that we were flown to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sydmonton estate to sing to the Queen (of England). She claims the Queen’s skin is beautiful and has no pores. If that is true, I regret that I fell off my birthday gift from bio -nose strips in the Buckingham Palace. PS Sierra is also Go sing with me in Provincetown!

Rob McClure and Maggie Lakis Arturo Olmos

The final show was Rob McClurewho loved the audience! He is charming with a capital CC (call back to his name). He came with his wife, Maggie Lakis, who had just played with him in the national tour of Something rotten!. He told us about the two they do Avenue q (He played numerous roles, including Princeton/Rod) together and how Maggie would often play the second -hand (if someone holds a puppet and another person does the second hand on the puppet). The second -hand person does not agree, she is there to make the puppet’s other arm move. Well, Rob said that someone came up at the stage door after one performance at Maggie and declared, ‘You Was the best one up there! You were the only one whose mouth never moved! ‘Right. Because she didn’t say anything.

I also did chatterboxes with everyone, including Lilla Crawford who talked about the role of Little Red Riding Hood in the film of In the forest. They first threw another girl in the part and a few weeks after rehearsal, they called Lilla and offered her the part! They also told her that she should accept the offer by the end of the day, because they have a second choice for a small reddish that was ready to go! Ah! The pressure!

Lilla Crawford, Annemarie Crawford, Juli Wesley

Well, of course she accepted it and they were panicked to get her in rehearsals immediately. Everyone else was basically performed in everything and Lilla had to learn it as quickly as possible. But Lilla was not nervous, because during Annie (She played Annie) They changed ‘Hard Knock Life’ twice completely and then put it in the show the night they learned it! So she was used to learning things quickly. She remembers that she did a number with Meryl Streep, who played the witch, and they told Meryl that she could just notice it, because it was really just for Lilla to teach her part. Well, Meryl indeed noticed it … But Lilla said that Meryl Streep -marked at the level of someone else delivering the best performance of their career! Here is the fantastic performance of Lilla in the film with Anna Kendrick as Cinderella, James Corden as the baker, Daniel Huttlestone as Jack, and Meryl Streep (not marked).

The Broadway veterinarian and hilarious Lee Wilkof, the original Seymour of Little Shop or horrorsdid the chatterbox too, and we ended the show to do my favorite thing: to sing ‘Sude Seymour’ with me as Audrey!

Next I will write from Provincetown! Peace until then!
