A police officer said drugs from Myanmar to Mizoram and Assam were brought to Tripura for smuggling in the neighboring country Bangladesh. Tripura is surrounded by a neighboring country on three sides, which has an 856 km border with Bangladesh. It is sensitive to the migration over the Northern Eastern State, different crimes, illegal trade and traffic issues. Tripura chief minister Manik Saha said that various law enforcement agencies arrested 248 people for illegal drug consumption over the past three financial years and also arrested 2.729 drug dealers.
