Santi's story and his first portrait at Monas
Jakarta – On the sidelines of a long weekend holiday, the National Monument Area (Monas) was never empty of visitors. Under the sea of people, Santi, 35, a Dukuh Atas resident, enjoyed a relaxing moment with her family. Santi acknowledged that she came to Monas regularly, especially because her child likes to play in an open space. But the experience of using photo services like this was the first time he did. Not because they can’t take pictures themselves, but because they want to feel something else. “Yes, this is the first time (using a traveling photo service at Monas),” Santi said when he met at Monas, Central Jakarta on Friday (5/30/2025). For Santi, photo services like this have their own value. Not only a matter of the results of the photo, but also about the intention to help others. “The price is still friendly. And the father helps the style, so the results are good,” he said. The photographer who served Santi that day was Rahmat, 43, a traveling photo novel that existed in the Monas area for more than ten years. With his old camera who faithfully accompanied him to work, Rahmat not only sells photos, he sells experience, interaction and a pinch of warmth in the frame. “Sometimes there are those who underestimate my camera, say it’s an old camera. But I’m already normal. Most importantly, I work Halal. There’s already a fortune,” Rahmat said. The photo rates offered by Rahmat are also affordable, RP. 20 thousand per pressure. Within a day, if it is crowded, he can bring home to RP 300 thousand. But there are also days where only two visitors use their services. “The smallest, the first 40 thousand, can at least be done. You should try to bring money to the house to eat,” he added. (Call/AZH) HOEGENG Awards 2025 Read the inspiring story of the exemplary police candidate here
