Chandigarh The mayor’s election, senior deputy mayor and deputy mayor in Chandigarh Municipal Corporation will now be held by “Voice” instead of “Secret Voting”. To implement this new system, Chandigarh administrator and governor of Punjab, Gulab Chand Qataria, granted formal approval. The Administrator approved the amendment of Regulations 6 of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (Working and Operations) regulations, 1996. The purpose of this amendment is to bring more transparency into the corporation’s election process and to make the role of elected representatives more responsible and clear. Gulab Chand Kataria, who provides information in this context, said that the process of vote through the election in the election will ensure and increase the public’s confidence in democratic processes. He hoped that this change would help improve the functioning and management of the municipal corporation and further strengthen the confidence in democratic processes. It is noteworthy that this proposal was first passed at the municipal corporation’s home meeting, Chandigarh. The proposal was brought using legal rights under section 398 (2) of the Punjab Municipal Corporation Act 1976, which was implemented in Chandigarh in Chandigarh Union area 1994 in Chandigarh. After the house was passed through the house, this amendment was sent to the administrator for approval, which has now received formal approval. This change is considered very important, because in the last few years there have been many disputes over the mayor election in Chandigarh Municipal Corporation. Questions were raised especially about the process of secret ballot. By raising hands, the vote will not only be clear of the vote, but the liability of public representatives will also be directly before the public. This change in the direction of democracy is considered a positive step, and it can also become an example for other municipal corporations in the coming time.
