9 TNI personnel investigate alleged abuse of village chief in South Sumatra
Ogan Komering Ilir – Chief of Cahaya Bumi Village, Lempuing District, Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) Regency, South Sumatra, Komaruddin, and his elder brother, Zainal Abidin, were allegedly abused by members of the TNI. A total of 9 TNI soldiers were questioned about the alleged abuse. The victim was allegedly abused by members of the TNI on Saturday afternoon (19/10/2025). Both are still undergoing treatment at the Hermina Palembang Hospital. “Currently, I am still being treated at Hermina Hospital in Palembang. Regional Military Command (Kodam) II/Sriwijaya confirmed that the village chief was abused by OKI members. His party is currently processing its members who were involved in this action. The member suspected of carrying out the abuse is from the Brigif 8/Garuda Cakti Kodam II/Sriwijaya unit. “Regarding the incident in OKI Regency in relation to the news that there are allegations that members of the TNI beat the village chief there. We, on behalf of Kodam II Sriwijaya, deeply apologize to the victim, the victim’s family and the OKI community,” said Kapendam II/Sriwijaya, Lt. Col. Jordanian Inf. Based on the results of the initial investigation, there were 9 TNI members who were questioned at the Prabumulih Subdenpom about this incident. The nine members were taken to Denpom Palembang. “Based on the initial investigation, 9 individuals of our soldiers were found, currently (the 9 TNI members) are at Denpom Palembang (21/10) for further investigation,” he said. Jordan said that his party is currently awaiting the results of further investigations at Denpom Palembang on the exact chronology of the incident. If it is later proven that they have committed an offence, these members will be processed according to applicable law. “Pangdam II Sriwijaya regrets this incident, the commander-in-chief is very disappointed, he said that there is no justification, there is nothing in this incident that we consider to be true, it is an act that cannot be justified at all.
