Jakarta – Minister of Environment (LH) Hanif Faisol Nurofiq said that 91 residents were relocated due to Cesium 137 radioactive pollution in the modern industrial area of Cikande, Banten. He said apart from this data, there were residents who asked to be moved because they were worried. “There are points E and F that need to be moved. As far as I remember yesterday, the provisional number at the meeting I chaired was 31 families and 91 people. However, it seems that the people in the surrounding area were also concerned and wanted to participate in the reallocation,” Hanif said at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (212/510). Hanif said the resettlement used APBD funds. According to him, areas affected by radioactivity will be disinfected, residents will be temporarily evacuated. So they are first evacuated, we reallocate, decontaminate, when that’s done we move,” he said. Hanif Faisol said that the evacuation of residents could be carried out for a month. He assessed that the number of residents being moved could increase if it is taken into account that there are parties outside the calculations who also want to evacuate. “I ask that it be settled no later than 1 month from yesterday. Yesterday, from the detailed interim meeting, there were 91 people from 31 families. But later, from yesterday’s developments, our staff, Mr. Deputy, stated that there were several who also wanted to be moved because they were close. So we will consider it,” says Hanif. “Yes, the point could be more than 30 families,” he added. Watch the video ‘Government Social Assistance for the Cikande Community’: (dwr/maa)
