Guilty Congress Mla Sunil Kedar disqualified from the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly
Mumbai, December 24 (IANS). Former minister and congress Mla Sunil Kedar, who was convicted in the bank fraud, was disqualified from the Maharashtra legislative meeting. Kedar, a courageous MLA of the Sawner Congress, was convicted on Friday in the Nagpur District Central Cooperative Bank (NDCCB) scam worth Rs 150 crore and sentenced to five years strict imprisonment. The head of the Maharashtra Congress, Atul Londhe, criticized the ruling, although the party very much respects the law, “when the leaders of the Bharatiya Janata party are convicted and have the full opportunity to appeal, why the same legal criteria were not implemented”. The decision in the NDCCB case has embarrassed the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). According to the prosecution, when Kedar was the president of NDCCB, he violated the rules of investment in government security by some private institutions. Later, the Cooperative Bank suffered a loss of about Rs 125 crore because private enterprises missed securities and did not return the money. A day after the startling ruling of the Nagpur Court, the Maharashtra legislature issued an order to disqualify Kedar of the meeting. A newspaper notice released late Saturday night, “… as a result of the conviction of Mr. Sunil Chhatrapal Kedar, a member of the Maharashtra Law Assembly, … Section 191 (1) (e) of the Indian Constitution, as well as the date of his conviction under section 8 of the Public Representation, 1951; From India, the date of his sentence of Shri Sunil Chhatrapal Kedar was evacuated from December 22, 2023.
