Improvement in the flood situation in Assam and other northeastern states, the number of dead increased to 48
Guwahati, June 6 (IANS). The flood situation in Assam led to a slight improvement on Thursday, while the situation in other northeastern states had a greater improvement. With two more deaths in Assam, the death toll in seven states of the region, except Sikkim, has increased to 48. According to disaster management officials from various northeastern states, out of 48 deaths during the rain and floods of May 29, 21 people in Assam, 12 in Arunachal Pradesh, six in Meghalaya, six in Nagaland and Manip. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) report, more than 5.60 Lakh people were affected by floods and rain in 19 districts in Assam. More than 6.79 Lakh people were affected in 21 districts on Wednesday. According to the ASDMA report, floodwaters in 1.433 towns of 19 districts underwater are among over 19,345 hectares of crop land. The report said that more than 4,35,825 pets were also influenced by the ongoing flooding. The flood situation in Manipur improved significantly on Thursday and as a result of the monsoon rains from Wednesday, the water of the major rivers took off. After the rainy rain began from May 29, the flood affected more than 1.65 lakh people and damaged 35,242 houses and 115.59 hectares of crop land across the state. Disaster management official reported that the split Impal, Kongba and Nambul rivers broke several banks two days ago, causing further decline in the valley region. He said the district administration with the volunteers saved 4,097 people and provided shelter in 78 relief camps. Defense spokesman said on Thursday that the Indian Army and Assam Rifles staff saved about 2500 from their citizens from 31 May. A report by the State -Voiced Operational Center (SEOC) said that 214 towns were affected in different districts due to floods and landslides, which have a total population over 33,200. A total of 481 houses were damaged across the state and 432 pets were reported to death, including 335 chickens and 97 animals.
