CBI's great success, international drug smuggler Tahir Salim Dola brought from Abu Dhabi to India

Mumbai, June 13 (IANS). The CBI has achieved significant success in an international drug case in collaboration with Abu Dhabi’s National Investigation Bureau and Interpol. In this operation, Tahir Salim Dola, the most important accused in a major case for drug smuggling, was successful in bringing back to India. Dola was brought to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai on Friday via Flight AI-984 from Dubai. Tahir Salim Dola was declared by Mumbai police under the Fir 67/2024 registered with the Kurla police station. Dola is accused of running a drug factory in Sangli, Maharashtra. Police seized a banned false drug called 126.141 kg of Mefedron (MD) of the place associated with Dola and her associates. Investigation revealed that Tahir Salim Dola is operating this illegal drug industry from abroad. At the request of the Mumbai police, the CBI issued a red notice via Interpol on November 25, 2024. The CBI with the International Police Cooperation Unit (IPCU) of Interpol discovered Dola’s UAE, where he was arrested on January 27. A request for extradition was sent to the UAE officials in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. After legal processes and diplomatic efforts, Dola was returned to India today. The Interpol RED notice serves as a global warning to locate the desired refugees for prosecution, or to keep the sentence. The CBI as the National Bureau of Interpol in India coordinates all law enforcement agencies in India for assistance through Interpol channels. Over the years, more than 100 desired refugees have been successfully brought back to India using the Interpol channels coordinated by the CBI. Dola will now be handed over to Mumbai police and produced before the court.
