Identification of 259 death in Ahmedabad aircraft accident, 256 bodies handed over
Ahmedabad, June 23 (IANS). The process of surrendering the bodies of people who have lost their lives in a recent plane crash in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, goes to their families. In this regard, Dr. Rakesh Joshi, Superintendent of Civil Hospital, said Monday that a total of 259 dead have been identified so far, of which 253 were identified by DNA investigation and 6 identified on the basis of faces. From these dead, 256 bodies were handed over to the family members, while the remaining 3 bodies will soon be delivered to the relevant family members. Dr Joshi said 253 death was confirmed on the basis of DNA matching, including 240 passengers and 13 non-passengers. Out of a total of 19 non-priest bodies, 13 were identified with DNA and 6 with a face of 6. Identified 259 dead include 180 Indian citizens, 7 Portuguese, 52 British citizens, 1 Canadian citizens and 19 non-people. He said that 256 bodies were sent 28 by air and 228 per road was sent to their families. At the same time, the bodies of three British citizens must not be sent, which will soon be sent to their country through prescribed flights.
