Duryodhana was one of Mahabharata’s main characters. He was the eldest son of the Kauravas and the son of King Dhritarashtra and Rani Gandhari. According to a folklore, the story of the temple, when the Pandavas were in captivity, Duryodhana came to the forests of Kerala and searched for him. During that time he reached the town of Malnada, where a chief of tribal served him, giving him food and rest. Fortunately with this love and service, Duryodhana donated land to that town. Later, a temple was built in his memory, known today as Peruviruthi Mallnada Duryodhana -Temple or Duryodhana Mallnada Temple. The people of this town regard Duryodhana as a friendly and honorable person. People here love Him with love and worship Him and worship Him. There is no idol, only a platform This temple is also unique because there is no idol in it. There is a stone platform called Mandapam or Althara. Where dedicated meditates and pray.
