Surinder Chaudhary started his political life with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He was considered near Mehbooba Mufti. He won the first election of Nowshera in 2008. In 2014, Surinder Chaudhary of Nowshera disputed on a PDP ticket, but lost to Ravinder Raina. In 2022, due to differences, he left the PDP and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In 2023 he left the BJP and attended the national conference. In 2024 he disputed on the National Conference ticket and defeated Ravinder Raina to become a MLA.
