Trump has become a peace messenger! Azerbaijan-Armenia's signing of enmity of more than three decades, signs of peace treaty
Two old opponents Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a historic peace agreement in the American arbitration on Friday. The meeting was held in the White House in the presence of US President Donald Trump. The purpose of this agreement is not only to end the decades -old battle, but also to strengthen economic cooperation and diplomatic relations between the two countries. The agreement is an important achievement for the Trump administration and is scheduled to create a stir in Russia, which considers the region in its influence. Trump said during the signature ceremony: “We have fought for 35 years, now our friends are … and will remain friends for a long time.” Trump was also attended by Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev President and Armenia Prime Minister Nicole Pashinayana, during the ceremony. The root of the dispute between both countries is the Nagorno-Karabakh region, despite being part of Azerbaijan, an ethnic group of Armenian origin. It was separated from the support of Armenia in the late 1980s. In 2023, Azerbaijan gained complete control, after which approximately 1 Lakh Armenian origin moved to Armenia. Trump said the two countries are committed to preventing war, starting diplomatic relations and respecting each other’s regional integrity. This agreement also provides the US special development rights for a strategic transit pass that moves through the South Caucasus. The White House said it would increase the export of energy and other resources. The two leaders nominated Trump for the Nobel Prize. The two leaders praised Trump and thanked him for helping end the fight and said that he would nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize. Aliyev said, “As President Trump, who should receive the Nobel Peace Prize?” In the early months of his second term, Trump tried to represent himself as a global peacekeepers. The White House says they entered into peace agreements between Cambodia and Thailand, Rwanda and Congo, and Pakistan and India. However, India rejected its claim. Trump was also unable to eliminate the Russia-Hukraine War or the Israel-Hamas battle. According to the regional impact experts, this agreement can change the map of the South Caucasus.
