Zelensky Slap again suit, Meet Donald Trump at the White House in Black Jacket
Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky again made headlines in Washington, this time for his choice of outfit at an important meeting on Monday with US President Donald Trump. The Ukrainian leader arrived at the White House in an ordinary black jacket and arrived requests from US officials who had earlier asked if he would wear a formal case for the Oval Office meeting. This week’s meeting had much greater interests than fashion choices. Zelensky, accompanied by several European leaders, came to Washington to align positions with the Trump administration on a possible peace frame with Russia. Ukrainian president encouraged Trump to take a stance of “peace through power” and pointed out that the US security guarantees are bound. The discussions followed Trump’s high -profile summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, where the American leader was sympathetic to Moscow’s demands, including the recognition of Crimea as Russian area and Kyiv who abandoned his ambitions of NATO. Both points remain red lines for Ukraine. Before entering the Oval Office, Zelensky spent private with European peers, including leaders from Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Finland, as well as NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The group later joined the US president for larger discussions. Trump, 79, indicates a warring mood before the talks and describes it as a ‘big day in the White House’ in a series of posts on his social platform. “I know exactly what I’m doing,” he wrote. “I don’t need the advice of people who have been working on these conflicts for years and could never solve it.” The one-on-one between Trump and Zelensky was closely watched for signs of tension, with many people reminding the unusual scenes in February when Trump and Vice President JD Vance reprimanded Ukrainian leader during a joint appearance in public.
