Fresh clashes in Manipur's Churachandpur as crowd protest marches of 2 for the vandalizing prime minister modes banners

Day after the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Manipur, in a first after ethnic clashes broke out in the state, a crowd clashed with security forces in Churachandpur about the arrest of two people for allegedly vandalizing the prime’s banners and clippings. Hundreds of clippings were presented across the Churachandpur district before visiting the PM Modi to the state. According to reports, several banners and clippings were vandalized at Pearsonmun and Phailien Bazaar. Police have rounded off many individuals in connection with the vandalism of the clippings and prime minister banners. While everyone was released, two of them were arrested. A mob claimed and staged a protest march outside the Churachandpur police station, which later increased when they collided with security forces. Premier Narendra Modi visited the state for the first time on Saturday after ethnic clashes broke out in May 2023 between Kukis and May. He addressed a public gathering in Churachandpur and promised to make the state a ‘symbol of peace’. He also met the people affected by the violence in the district and unveiled a number of development projects. Apart from Manipur, Premier Modi also visited Mizoram and Assam and laid the foundation stone of various development projects worth thousands of crores. These projects will be provided in various sectors, including Railways, Roads, Energy and Sport. Premier Modi also inaugurated the first railway of Mizoram, the Bairabi-Sairang, which will ensure the connection of the northeastern state to the rest of India. “It’s not just a railroad connection, but it’s a lifeline of transport. It will make the lives and livelihoods of Mizoram people a revolution. Farmers and businesses of Mizoram can reach more markets across the country,” Premier Modi said.
