Maurene Comey, a veteran federal prosecutor and daughter of former FBI director James Comey, filed a lawsuit in which she disputed her dismissal as illegal and politically motivated. The lawsuit has also noticed the broader context: Since the officials in January, Trump has removed the officials who considered unfaithful law firms involved with him and reduced federal financing at universities. Maurene Comey has prosecuted a series of major cases, including the charges of sex trafficking against Jeffrey Epstein, who died by suicide in 2019 before hearing. She also played a key role in the conviction of Ghislaine Maxwell, the long -standing co -worker of Epstein, who now serves a 20 -year sentence for sex trafficking of underage girls.
