Microsoft invests $ 30 billion in AI infrastructure, UK operations

Microsoft said on Tuesday that its investment includes a $ 15 billion capital expenditure to expand the UK’s cloud and AI infrastructure, enabling the company to build the country’s largest supercomputer in partnership with Nscale. The company added that its investments would help meet clients’ growing demand, while the economic ties between the UK and the US ‘Microsoft’s landmark investment at the same time are a strong confidence in British leadership in AI and the latest technology,’ said Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and it will enable thousands of jobs to remain in the foreground. The unveiling came when King Charles III prepared to welcome President Trump on Wednesday for a state visit. Treasury Secretary Scott Besent is also in London, where he is expected to work with the British government officials and the private sector.
