Hundreds of students in Sumba experienced vomiting, allegedly MBG poisoning
Jakarta – Hundreds of students from different schools in Empang District, Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) experienced nausea, vomit to diarrhea. They are believed to have been poisoned after eating a free nutritional menu (MBG). Some of them are currently being treated in the Empang and Tarano Health Center. A total of 94 students from MTSN 2 Sumbawa, 20 students from Min 3 Sumbawa, 11 students from Man 3 Sumbawa and 2 students from SMPN 3 Empang poisoned Wednesday (9/17/2025). “This happened around ten o’clock this morning,” Gapit Village Secretary (sects), Empang District, Sumbawa Regency, Buhar MZ, said when Detikbali reported on Thursday (9/18/2025). The reason is that the average student complains of nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, to diarrhea after eating the free food. “They happened to be my family and citizens. Just now I visited them in Puksemas Empang,” Buhar added. Buhar said some of the students are currently being treated in Pugemas Empang and Tarano.
