Again Gary Stead related to New Zealand cricket knows what the responsibility will be?
Gary Stead again joined the New Zealand cricket team as a high-performance coach. Stead resigned three months ago after spending seven years as head coach of the national men’s team. He is one of the most successful coaches in New Zealand. According to New Zealand Cricket (NZC), the new role of the place will include the development of players and coaches, as well as supporting the high performance program. Gary Stead said: “New Zealand cricket has been very close to my heart for almost 30 years. It is very special for me to contribute to the game I love. I still have a passion for coaching and I want to help the players learn and improve.” He further said: “I have the opportunity to work outside New Zealand cricket, giving me the opportunity to increase my skills and experience. I appreciate it. I hope I will bring back what I will learn in our cricket environment.” Stead is currently working as head coach of the men’s team with the Andhra Cricket Association in India. He also provided interim coaching assistance to Otago cricket during the winter season. The same month he also attended the New Zealand Under-19 camp. “Gary’s knowledge and experience of cricket is widespread. He remains obsessed with sports and inspired by his arrival. Our national and domestic coaches, players and employees will gain the benefit of their experience and expertise.” Stead won its first World Test Championship title as head coach of the Men’s National Team in 2021. In his coaching, New Zealand won a 3-0 test series in India last year. New Zealand’s chief performance officer Dernryl Gibson said: “Gary’s knowledge and experience of cricket is widespread. He remains obsessed with sports. His arrival will benefit our national and domestic coaches, players and employees from their experience and expertise.” Stead then served as head coach and cricket director of Cantorbury from 2012-2018.
