The global food crisis due to OANDMI, geopolitical conflict, climate change and providing the supply chain places food as the central issue of the 21st century,” he said. According to him, the great vision of President Prabowo Subianto by Asta Cita food sovereignty as a top priority for national development. For this reason, the DPD RI worked with the Ministry of Agriculture through a 5,000 -acre wheat planting program in four provinces of South Sulawesi, Bengkulu, NTT and Central Papua. According to him, wheat has been chosen as the most important commodity in this program, because it has a great potential to encourage food dependence, while strengthening the competitiveness of agriculture of Indonesia. In addition to being food, wheat is also an important raw material in the animal feed industry and the downstream agricultural sector. “This program not only stops at ceremonies, but will be accompanied by the harvest and its recording by Bulog. Today we not only plant wheat seeds, but also plant the seeds of togetherness and sovereignty of the nation. From Pangkep, Kupang, Bengkulu, to Mimika, let’s determine the determination that Indonesia stands on its own feet,” says Tamsil. Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in 2024 noted that rice production in South Sulawesi has reached 4.82 million tonnes of dried rice frees or equivalent to 2.76 million tonnes of rice. Meanwhile, wheat production in the province was recorded at 1.13 million tonnes with a 191.01 -hectare crop area. In this case, the presence of the Minister of Agriculture gave its own meaning because it has become a symbol of the central government’s support for the role of the region in strengthening the agricultural sector. In addition to handing over the seeds to the farming group, Amran Sulaiman and Tamsil Linrung also symbolically planted with pangcep farmers as a form of mutual cooperation in the realization of national food security. Tamsil expressed special appreciation to the Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman who was directly present at the activity. “The presence of the Minister of Agriculture gave more significance than just a ceremony. He was present as a representation of the awakening of the country’s agriculture and the symbol of cooperation between state institutions in the construction of Indonesia’s food sovereignty,” he said. He was of the opinion that the Minister of Agriculture has shown a high dedication since the inauguration of President Prabowo to translate the president’s vision in the agricultural sector. “Imports are stopped because domestic production is increasingly qualified. Rice production reaches the highest record throughout history. Indonesia reaches rice -self -supply. Modern agricultural technology is increasingly adopted,” Tamsil said optimistic. Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman greatly appreciated the Senator Program for Food Security initiated by the DPD RI. This is in line with the dedication of the President of the Republic of Indonesia in which the government is concrete to prepare a large investment plan in the agricultural sector worth RP40 trillion to RP100 trillion. The government also realized a budget of RP9.9 trillion to RP10 trillion to support different strategic programs, including strengthening the national agricultural sector.
