Commercial negotiations between America and Taiwan enter the "Decity Stage"
Taiwan’s Prime Minister Chu Jong-Tai said trade talks with the United States have entered the ‘decisive closing phases’, indicating that the country, which is a center for the global disk industry, is recently near to reach an agreement with the administration of US President Donald Trump. According to an informed person, Taiwan trade negotiators arrived in Washington late and talked to their US peers with the aim of setting up the 20% customs duties on the island. America’s claims of Taiwan were discussed by Taiwanese investments in the United States, according to the person who asked not to be identified due to the privacy of information, and officials also tried to obtain preferential treatment for the semiconductor sector in Taiwan, which is under a review of national security. Earlier this week, the US Secretary of Trade Howard Lootnik has publicly demanded Taiwan to increase its investments and produce chips in the United States, so half of US demand is manufactured locally, which will represent a fundamental shift in the global slide sector and the local Taiwan economy. A spokesman for the Taiwan Trade Negotiations Office did not immediately respond to a request for comment. It was not clear whether there was a new round of the scheduled talks or that the visit ended.
