ACB has arrested chief constable to take bribes in Jammu and Kashmir

In the Union area of ​​Jammu and Kashmir, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught the main constable Mahroof Ahmed, placed at the Mahore police station in the Reasi district, with a bribe of Rs 8,000. The complainant told the ACB that, after receiving interim bail in a case, he had to register with the Mahore police station every day according to the court’s order. The complainant accused the main constable of unnecessarily harassing himself during this period and demanding a bribe of Rs 8,000 from him to release on time, which he gave in the police on October 1. Nevertheless, the accused chief constable Mahruof Ahmed did not stop here. Two days later, he threatened the complainant and his colleague again and demanded an extra bribe of Rs 12,000 for the release of his tractor and timely release. The complainant said that Mehroof Ahmed said that if the money was not received in time, he would be registered in terms of the Public Safety Act and that he may have to go to jail again. If you don’t have to go to jail and can’t give 12,000, then give 8,000 rupees. The complainant then approached the ACB and refused to bribe. Knowing about the matter, the ACB has investigated and initiated the whole case in a confidential manner when it is correct in the investigation. The ACB then filed a fir in ACB UDHAMPUR in terms of the relevant divisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 and the team arrested the accused chief constable Mahroof Ahmed in the presence of witnesses who took a bribe of Rs 8,000 of the complainant. ACB officials said further investigation into the case was underway.
