The doctor does not know that a syrup is toxic ... ima on Kapha -syrup tragedy
Last Updated: 06 October 2025, 23:53 IST -Curriculum Tragedy: The Indian Medical Association has blamed the negligence of administration and regulatory bodies over the death of children as a result of PHGlemstroop in Madhya Pradesh and the arrest of the doctor. Several states have banned Coldrif syrup. New -delhi. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) responded sharply to the dispute after the death of children after drinking in Madhya Pradesh. The IMA described the incident as a result of the serious negligence of administrative and regulatory bodies and said that the arrest of a doctor is an example of legal ignorance. The organization demanded appropriate compensation for both the affected families and the doctors. The IMA said that the Kapha -syrup tragedy in Madhya Pradesh and the arrest of the doctor who wrote it is an excellent example of the legal ignorance of the officers and the police. The IMA demands immediate action against real culprits and adequate compensation to the families involved and the doctor who was victims of slander. On Saturday, a fir against the directors of Srisan Pharmaceuticals, Canceram, Tamil Nadu, a pediatrician placed in the COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER (CHC) of the city at the Parasia police station. They were discussed under sections 27 (a) of BNS divisions 105 and 276, as well as drug and cosmetics, 1940. Shortly after the BMO report, the doctor’s arrest shows in a hurried, regulatory bodies and the relevant pharmaceutical company the attempt to distract the attention of the people from the mistakes. The Indian Medical Association said in its statement that some companies that produce drugs can use cheap, toxic substances such as industrial deg and ethylene glycol instead of expensive and safe glycerine and propenen glycol to cough syrup. These toxic substances are like safe materials in appearance, but if the manufacturer and the regulatory level fall into the quality check, this syrup can cause kidney failure or death in children. In the past, such incidents have happened in many countries. The doctor does not know that a syrup is toxic until its adverse effects are revealed to the patients. Therefore, strict rules and strict investigation are needed to stop such tragedies. Many people buy cough syrup at shops without advice, so that more children consume them. In most cases, coughs and colds are cured without syrup. When doctors write syrup, they do this after seeing the child’s condition. The statement said that the report of Mashelkar said in 2003 that the problems of the regulatory system in the country were mainly due to insufficient or poor medicine control structures at the state and center level, insufficient test facilities, a lack of medicine inspectors, a lack of maintenance, lack of uniform, lack of trained -bans and not -liability of accurate information. In this case, CDSCO and MPFDA failed to monitor DEG concentrations in alleged cuff syrup. The IMA said that the attitude of the central and state governments creates problems instead of raising confidence in public. Arresting a doctor, who has the right to prescribe the drug approved by the competent authority, gives the wrong message. Doctors across the country are afraid of such actions. This is clearly a case of false medicine under section 17B of medicine and cosmetic law, in which the drug was completely or partially replaced by another substance. Cough approval, its quality and monitoring of the content is fully under the stir of the medicine regulation system. Once the medicine is approved and available in the market, the registered medical practitioner has the right to write it. It is beyond their merits and jurisdiction to target medicine controller to stop the provision of medicines approved to the pharmacies. Earlier, the controller gave such advice to limit some medicines only to specific expertise, which is the abuse of power outside the drug and cosmetic law. The IMA further said that it was concerned about the inability and insufficiency of the drug regulatory system in the country and negligence in dealing with this unfortunate incident. The drug manufacturers and officials are fully responsible for the death of these helpless children. It is unfair to threaten the medical profession and will be opposed.
