Deputy Head of the MPR: The implementation of the government of AI must be liable

Jakarta – Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly Lestari Moerdijat believes that the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in government must prioritize the principles of transparency, accountability and intelligibility. It aims to be part of the efforts to improve services to the community. This was expressed by him during the opening of an online discussion on the theme of the government based on artificial intelligence (AI) held today by the Denpasar 12 discussion forum. Meanwhile, the public understanding of AI has not yet been evenly distributed, therefore concrete steps are needed to realize the AI-based government,” Lestari Moedijat said in its statement, Wednesday (8/10). He said aspects of accountability and ethics should form the basis of any AI-based work. According to him, digital sovereignty in the application of AI in government must be a serious concern and are carefully prepared. “Ethical policy, human resources readiness, infrastructure and data integration are really needed to implement AI in the country,” he said. Meanwhile, Aries Coastdaryono believes that digital transformation is not an option, but a necessity to be used. “The government therefore encourages AI’s application in an effort to meet people’s needs in the digital sector that are safe and support public needs,” he explained. According to Aries, the use of AI is part of the government’s priority program. Aspects of infrastructure, management, security, privacy and competence are serious concerns for the government in the implementation of AI in government. “A number of steps, such as regulatory readiness, application support, infrastructure, data centers and technology transfer with countries that have implemented AI, have been taken by the government in an effort to develop the use of AI in the country,” he concluded.
