Delhi: One death, many workers injured after the wall in Safdarjung Enclave collapses
New -delhi, October 9 (IANS). A major accident happened on Thursday when the wall of a cellar under the construction in the B-5 block, Safdarjung Enclave, Delhi, collapsed. One laborer died in this accident, while four other laborers were seriously injured. This accident occurred when the excavation work of the cellar took place on the site. According to information shared by Delhi police, the police control room (PCR) was received by the Police Control Room (PCR) at about 18:15. Police have been notified that a wall collapsed in Safdarjung Enclave and that 4 to 5 laborers were buried under the rubble, of which 2-3 were feared. Once the information was received, the local police, fire department and ram preaching team reached the place and the rescue operation was started immediately. When police reached the place, they found out that the cellar work was underway at the place where the accident occurred. During the excavation, a corner of the pillar and the soil below slipped, causing part of the wall to collapse and the workers who work there were buried. The four injured were taken to Sukhmani Hospital, where they undergo treatment. Two other workers, who were seriously injured, were referred to Aiims Trauma Center. One person was pronounced dead in hospital with the arrival, while the other was still undergoing treatment. The age of the injured laborers is between 35 and 45 years and belongs to Ghazipur (Uttar Pradesh), Dausa (Rajasthan) and Sangam Vihar (Delhi). The deceased was identified as a Madangir resident, about 60 years old. Delhi police said relief and rescue work were completed.
