Dhoni indented velammal cricket stage in Madurai, supporters were desperate to get a look

Madurai, October 9 (IANS). Former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni inaugurated the Velammal Cricket Stadium near Chintamani in Madurai on Thursday. On this occasion, there was eagerness among the fans to get a look at Dhoni. Dhoni, who reached Madurai in a Mumbai private plane, was the main guests during the inauguration ceremony of Tamil Nadu’s second largest cricket stadium. This world-class stadium is built at an estimated cost of more than Rs 300 crore and is spread over 12.5 hectares and will become an important center of cricket in the region. The Velammal Cricket Stage, developed by the Velammal Education Trust in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, has a spectator capacity of 7,300. There are plans to increase it to 20,000 in the future. Dhoni, who led India to the ODI and T20 World Championships as well as the ICC Champions Trophy title under his captaincy, was welcomed by the supporters present at the airport. It was his first public performance in Madurai, which made the event even more special for his fans in Tamil Nadu. MS Dhoni was taken to the venue in a white car with its jersey number ‘7’. Close arrangements for the security of the police were made to control the large crowd. After the inauguration ceremony, Dhoni reached the airport in a blue car ‘7’ and flew back to Mumbai with a private charter aircraft. The event attracted widespread attention, not only because of the size of the new cricket infrastructure, but also due to Dhoni’s presence. Dhoni, who has been playing for CSK in the IPL since 2008, is very popular in Tamil Nadu. Recently, Dhoni completed his drone pilot training, which was appreciated on social media. The former Indian captain completed his course of Garuda Aerospace, India’s leading drone producer and DGCA, approved pilot training organization in Chennai.
